Addictive behaviours can take over your life – and can feel like the whole of you. But you are so much more than your addictive behaviour.
One of the key harms that comes from addictive bahaviours is the neglect of other meaningful and important life goals and activities. So therapy helps you to imagine your life ahead without the addiction, then plan and implement steps towards a new life. This might include activities and connections that have been important and meaningful to you in the past, but you might choose to build a completely new lifestyle for yourself. Therapy will help you think about your future; plan and set goals; and implement the changes you want while anticipating the obstacles that might get in your way and putting things in place to minimize them.
